Oh Yeah, Well Bless You Too, Buddy!

Twice in as many days, I've had people tell me to have a "blessed" day.

Do we need to have another talk about exclusive versus inclusive language? Everyone wants to have a "good" day, but not everyone particularly wants to have a "blessed" one. Of course, telling people to "have a blessed day" has nothing to do with how you want people's days to go. It's about broadcasting your religiosity to everyone you meet.

Have a "good" weekend.

What if they really want you to have a blessed day? Are Christians (or any other religious group for that matter) limited to believing that God's power or influence is limited to only those that believe?
Did not Fonzi fix the jukebox for all at Arnold's, regardless of their faith in him? Did not Luke say to Han "may the force be with you" regardless of Han's disbelief? Does not Dominos deliver your pizza in 30 minutes or less hot and Noid free whether or not you believe they are capable? Are all these acts simply self-aggrandizing gestures?

I don't recall Luke ever telling Han that the force would be with him--although Han, the non-believer--once told Luke in a display of solidarity.
